What is the advantage of having a Concealed Shower Valve?

Concealed shower valve are a popular choice with our customers. It is a shower that is recessed into the wall, with the pipework attached to it from behind, in the wall.  They are a stylish looking shower with easy to use controls on the front.

Often concealed showers have a rectangular/square or rounded face plate with controls as either levers, square knobs or round controls designs.  These type showers are known as 'Twin' or 'Triple' controls. Always check with your installer whether it is possible to install a concealed shower. If not, you may choose a exposed shower valve instead.

All concealed shower valves vary in design but here is a idea of the most common set up..

What is a single outlet / Two Outlet or Three Outlet Concealed Shower Valve ?

There are various types of concealed shower valves valves that are designed to be used in conjunction with other showering products. i.e a shower head on a rail or holder, a larger 'rain' overhead shower and also to fill your bath by a 'spout' or by a 'overflow filler'.

In principal the shower valve will run water to 1 product (1 outlet) two products (2 outlet) or three products (3 outlet)

How do you maintain or fix a concealed shower valve?

Showers vary in design but most allow front access to the shower body and main working parts. It is often the case in hard water areas, limescale can collect on the main working parts inside including the parts behind the control handles which are called 'thermostatic cartridges' or 'flow/diverter cartridges'

Each valve has a different process to remove the cartridge but in short principal, These cartridges can be removed by removing the front handle off, then unscrewing from the main body.  (obviously with all water supplies turned off! )

You can then rinse the cartridge, check for any damage or replace it.
